Bigger and better with 15 schools battling for a place in the finals in March, at the Old Bailey, the Sheriffs’ Challenge is back at Coventry University in London. Will the Marketors’ sponsored school, Hammersmith Academy, win a place in the final?
Liveryman Philippa Seal and Gina McAdam wait, whilst the judges deliberate on the schools’ performance. Was the school’s presentation on climate change and environment, set in a classroom of the future with pupils wearing face masks good enough to get through to the final? Despite encouraging feedback, our school did not quite make it, but were thrilled to take part.
The Sheriffs’ London Challenge was created in 2017 by the then City of London Sheriff, Sir Peter Estlin, who became the 691st Lord Mayor in 2018. It is an inter-school, pan livery event which helps foster debate and presentation skills in our city’s young people. The Worshipful Company of Marketors support this event by sponsoring and mentoring a Hammersmith Academy team every year.
