Last night, 46 Marketors and their guests, with a similar number from 151 Regiment The Royal Logistics Corps, met in the Officers’ Mess of Regent’s Park Barracks for the annual ‘Curry Night.’ Hosted by the new Commanding Officer, Lt Col David Miller RLC and organised by Captain Wayne Theobald RLC and the new Adjutant, Captain John Wooldridge RLC. After a reception we moved to the anti-room where we were entertained by a harpist who played beautifully for most of the evening.
With refreshed glasses we moved into the main mess where the Commanding Officer highlighted the Regiment’s achievements during 2017 and informed us of a few lesser known fact about the City (mainly alcohol related!) and then invited our Trust Chairman, Court Assistant John Hooper CBE, to present the 2017 Marketors’ Prize, citation and cheque to WO2 Tomas Stringer, 210 Squadron, who was the unanimous choice from the Regiment and also the many Marketors who know him and have exercised with him. Our Master, Susan Garland Worthington OBE, the Regiment’s personal guest, responded on behalf of the Marketors and thanked the organisers and the Regiment for all their efforts.
With yet more refreshed glasses, the curry dinner, and following that a sweet, was served and then the room was plunged into darkness to be entertained by the Regiment’s Corps of Drums with their drum sticks tipped with coloured LED’s which made a memorable end to the evening.
We next meet the Regiment at the Lord Mayor’s Show next month.
Next year’s Curry Night is already being planned and will be held at the Honourable Artillery Company on Tuesday 16th October 2018.
