Charity Marketing Guide to Pandemic Recovery

The Worshipful Company of Marketors’ Outreach programme is responding to a very predictable increase in future Outreach marketing support requests by the smaller charities that are being “blown off course” by the Covid-19 pandemic. Sources of funding for many charities have dried up, fund raising events are not happening, charity shops remain shut, fixed costs continue to need to be paid and for some charities the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic have lead to an increased demand for their specialised support in local communities. The people running such charities need our help so they can continue to help others.

Philanthropic volunteers within the Company already deliver “pro bono” Outreach marketing support projects and between them are responsible for about thirty Outreach projects happening at any one time. Such Outreach project work will continue at the same levels as tightly defined projects are completed and other new projects are allocated within the Outreach team. Clearly to be able to help those recently affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, some additional resource will be needed. 

The Outreach committee are producing a digital document that will win no prizes for its title, Charity Marketing Guide to Pandemic Recovery. However, those charities who approach the Marketors for help in these “unusual times” and then cannot be matched with one of the Outreach volunteers as part of a structured Outreach project, will find the document contains a lot of helpful recovery advice and guidance for charities of all sizes, complete with a high density of digital links to government resources and other specialist sources. Some work still needs to be done on the document but it will be made widely available once signed off.

The Worshipful Company of Marketors’ Outreach Programme matches “good cause” organisations needing “pro bono” marketing support with one or more appropriate members of the Marketors, ranging from recent Freemen to Past Masters. Outreach’s professional management approach helps document, define and time limit the marketing support, delivers our members’ marketing expertise and helps the “good cause” organisation to make their own marketing improvements.

Many members of the Marketors based across the UK and elsewhere want to donate some personal time to help deliver some charitable marketing support back into society.
