How to Apply

We welcome applications from those in the marketing profession who share our aims and values and are suitably qualified in marketing either by their professional training and education or by their skills and experience. You may have membership of the Chartered Institute of Marketing or similar body. In some special circumstances individuals who hold a senior position in industry may be admitted if they are able to demonstrate marketing skills and ability in reaching that position.

Individuals who meet the professional criteria will also be asked to evidence their desire to promote the aims of the Company and participate in its professional, social and charitable activities.

Applications must be supported by two Liverymen of the Company. If candidates need help with obtaining sponsors they should contact the Membership Committee Chairman Annie Brooks. After that suitable applicants will be invited to a meeting with senior representatives of the Company usually held in one of the prestigious Livery Halls in the City. Here the applicant will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of and commitment to the aims and values of the Company. Please contact the Membership Committee Chairman if you require further information and are interested in applying for membership.

Liveryman Status

After being admitted as a Freeman, it is necessary to gain the Freedom of the City of London in order to proceed to the full status of Liveryman. This is a wonderful celebration at Guildhall, where family and friends can both witness and celebrate your admittance. The Worshipful Company of Marketors will assist with this. After having obtained the Freedom of the City, the applicant may be admitted to the Livery and thus become a full member of the Company, and be eligible to become a member of the Court from which further progress is possible.

City Entitlements

Election to the Livery carries with it the right to apply for membership of the City Livery Club and entitles a Liveryman to attend at Common Hall for the election of the Lord Mayor, the Sheriffs and certain other City Officers, a privilege which is the prerogative of the Livery alone.

Further details about Membership as a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Marketors can be obtained from the Membership Committee Chairman.

Prospective Members’ Evenings

To help applicants gain more insight into the Company and meet fellow marketers – including senior members of the Livery, we hold prospective members’ evenings. Please contact the Membership Committee Chairman if you are interested in attending.

The next prospective members’ evening will be on Wednesday 2nd May 2018, followed by Monday 1st October.

We’d be delighted to see you at our relaxed and informal open evening where we give you a peek into Livery life over a glass of wine or two! We also explain our joining process and help you meet proposers and seconders if you do not already know some existing members. We are the City Livery for marketing professionals and you will meet an amazing cross-section of our industry – all with a shared passion for marketing and a strong focus on give-back. Not least, you will receive a warm welcome.

If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Marketor and hearing about our activities and plans from our Master and Wardens, please email membership chair, Annie Brooks at
