Our founding principle, “marketing benefits everyone,” reflects our belief in the power of marketing to drive both economic and social good. We champion marketing not just as a business discipline, but as a force that can improve communities, support meaningful causes, and create positive change.
A Legacy of Nearly 50 Years
Founded as a guild in 1975 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 2010, The Marketors will shortly celebrate 50 years as a livery and contribution to society, the City of London, and the professional development of our members. Throughout this time, we have upheld our role within the Livery community while evolving to meet the needs of a dynamic and fast‑changing industry.
How We Deliver Our Mission
We fulfil our principle by operating as a not‑for‑profit membership body for marketing leaders who want to use their skills, experience, and networks to support charitable causes and advance the practice of marketing for the benefit of society. Our work spans pro‑bono support, mentoring, education, thought leadership, fundraising, and civic engagement.
A Diverse and Engaged Membership
Our members come from across the marketing spectrum and from organisations of all types and sizes: global and UK brands; digital, creative, media and advertising agencies; the public sector; charities and non‑profits; consultancies; and academia. Many also belong to other major marketing associations, and we see ourselves as complementary to the wider marketing community rather than competing with it.
We are also supported by a group of Corporate Supporters who share our values and participate in our activities as part of their CSR or ESG commitments - bringing additional expertise and impact to our shared mission.
Our Charitable Impact
The Marketors’ charitable activities are made possible through the generosity of our members and Corporate Supporters, who donate to The Marketors’ Trust as well as contribute their time and expertise. Many members volunteer as mentors, support outreach programmes, or provide pro‑bono marketing advice to charities and cause‑related organisations—helping them grow, communicate effectively, and deliver greater social value.
Supporting Marketing Education and Future Talent
We work closely with marketing academics, educational institutions, and award‑granting bodies to advance marketing knowledge and education. Our aim is to help people from all backgrounds access opportunities in marketing and to support diverse talent as it progresses throughout the profession.
A Strong Community with a Shared Purpose
Because our work is rooted in a strong sense of purpose, a close and supportive community has grown among our members. As a City of London Livery Company, The Marketors host a lively programme of events—from informal socials and themed discussions to major formal occasions at landmark venues, including the Mansion House. These gatherings strengthen both professional and personal connections within our fellowship.
Proud Members of the Livery Movement
The Marketors are the 90th Livery Company in the City of London’s Roll of Livery Companies, which now numbers 114. As one of the 33 Modern Livery Companies established since 1926, we reflect the evolution of contemporary professions that contribute to the business and civic life of the City. We are also committed supporters of the work of the City of London and the Lord/Lady Mayor, participating actively in the civic responsibilities and traditions that define the Livery movement.
A Unique Community for Marketing Leaders
In essence, The Marketors offer marketing professionals a unique community where they can give back - sharing their expertise to benefit society - while enriching their own lives through fellowship, connections, and one‑of‑a‑kind experiences that only the Livery world can offer.
