Marketors' Thanksgiving & Rededication Service and Spring Luncheon
Guest Speaker: Alderman Prof. Michael Mainelli
Our annual Thanksgiving and Rededication Service will be held, as always, at the Church of St Bride, led by its Rector, our Honorary Chaplain, the Reverend Canon Dr Alison Joyce, to which you are all warmly invited.
This is a particularly special year for Alison as she will be celebrating 25 years in ordained ministry in May and we are delighted to be able to mark the achievement with her.
As the slightly later starting time of 11:30 proved appealing last year, we have decided to repeat it this year. It is hoped this will allow more travelling time for members living outside London.
Not only does the Service look to the past and the history of our Company but we also look to the future, rededicating ourselves to our profession and our Company and considering what lies before us.
After the Service we will be returning to the splendid surroundings of the Stationers’ Hall nearby. The Hall with its beautiful Courtyard has been a wonderful host to us in the past and we are fortunate to be able to return there this year.
The Company in General Meeting having elected Alderman Professor Mainelli as an Honorary Liveryman, the Court will be delighted to hold a brief Ceremonial Court for the sole purpose of clothing him in our Livery, before the luncheon commences.
We are fortunate to have Michael to be our guest speaker and address my theme for 2019 – “Optimism Offers Opportunities” which will be particularly relevant at the present time.
Michael has an impressive background in the fields of finance, governmental and social awareness and we will undoubtedly be presented with a thought-provoking address.
The Marketors’ Spring Luncheon is the perfect opportunity to introduce colleagues to the Livery and meet members who are not always at our evening Great Events. I encourage you to use the opportunity to invite associates and friends who perhaps otherwise may not have the opportunity to experience Livery life.
Guests are welcome at both or either of the Service and the Luncheon, and I hope to see many of you at both events.
