Guest Speaker: The RT Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae GNZM, QSO, KStJ. New Zealand High Commissioner to the United Kingdom

I am honoured to have been elected Master of the Marketors for 2019 and I shall do my very best to serve the Company to the best of my ability and to leave it in at least as good a shape as I find it.

This year I am privileged to celebrate my Installation as Master and the Investiture of our Wardens in the magnificent Drapers’ Hall. The Drapers have owned the site since 1543, when they purchased the London mansion of Thomas Cromwell, of Austin Friars, from King Henry VIII.

Destroyed in the Great Fire of London, Drapers’ Hall was rebuilt to designs by Edward Jarman. After another fire in 1772, it was rebuilt again to the magnificent style it is now. Drapers' Hall could be considered to be one of the City of London’s most spectacular Halls.

The evening will commence with a welcome reception followed by a banquet of fine food and wine together with the traditional Loving Cup.
