In a world of global and rapid digital communication and transparency and with increasing restrictions on the advertising of alcohol brands how can we continue to build global spirit brands?

The Master Marketor and Master Distiller invite you to join them to hear the views of an experienced panel drawn from the worlds of marketing and advertising and from that of alcohol drinks – specifically spirits.

The medieval alchemists believed that through a combination of imagination and science a base metal could be transformed into pure gold.

Today in the world of Marketing and Distilling we seek to achieve the same kind of transformation.

Our most premium spirits begin life as simple natural products, grains grapes sugar cane and water … and are transformed by the skill of the Distiller into exquisite drinks sold at high prices in the most exclusive bars and hotels in the world.

Marketing and Advertising takes core brands and adds value by communicating a clear proposition and creating consumer interest and desire.

These are the Alchemists of today.

The panel will be chaired by David Wethey, a well known figure in the advertising world and a man who has written several business books and knows the challenges of marketing drinks brands from both the client and agency side.

The Panel:

Rory Sutherland, Vice Chairman, Ogilvy UK
Mark Sandys, Global Head of Beer, Baileys & Smirnoff, Diageo
Anthony Wilson, Alkemista, Brand Innovation
Andrew Marsden, Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Marketors
