Title Spring Luncheon
Date 13 April 2010
Venue Salters' Hall, 4 Fore Street, London EC2Y 5DE
Introduction

At the Spring Lunch the Master’s theme of Sustainability moves on to the environment. We are fortunate to have as our speaker someone who has actually “done it”. As director of Friends of the Earth, Tony Juniper brought about the Climate Change Bill, the first piece of legislation that legally bound government into reducing CO2 emissions.

Description

Tony Juniper is an independent sustainability and environment adviser. He acts as special adviser to The Prince of Wales’ Rainforest Project and Senior Associate with the Cambridge University Program for Sustainability Leadership.

He is the author of several books, including the award winning Guide to the Parrots of the World, Spix’s Macaw and How Many Light Bulbs Does It Take to Change a Planet?

He began his career as an ornithologist, working with Birdlife International. From 1990 he worked at Friends of the Earth and was its executive director from 2003-2008.

Salters’ Hall was designed by Sir Basil Spence and opened in 1976. It has a fine view over London Wall and St Paul’s and is one of very few Livery Halls built in a contemporary style.

First licensed in 1394, the Salters’ Company is one of the Great Twelve Livery Companies and today fosters an appreciation of chemistry.

The Spring Lunch is particularly suitable for business guests. The meal is brought to you by the same catering team that provided such an exquisite Installation Dinner in January.
