Founder and Chairman of Cobra Beer, Lord Bilimoria, a Chartered Accountant who then read Law at Cambridge, started his now globally famous and award-winning Cobra Beer empire in 1990. He has won many prestigious awards himself, most recently the IOD, Director Magazine Good Director Award for Leadership and the Entrepreneur Alumnus of the Year, Cranfield School of Management. He is the Representative Deputy Lieutenant of the London Borough of Hounslow and serves as Chancellor of Thames Valley University, making him the youngest university chancellor in the UK. He is one of the first two Visiting Entrepreneurs ever appointed at Cambridge University and serves as National Champion of the National
Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship.
From 2001 – 2005 Lord Bilimoria was Chairman of the National Employment Panel’s SME Enterprise Board. He is also a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Drapers. Since 2003, Lord Bilimoria has been the UK Chairman of the Indo-British Partnership and in 2007 became Chairman of the UK India Business Council. In June 2006, he was appointed The Lord Bilimoria of Chelsea and now sits in the House of Lords as an independent and active crossbench peer.
