Applying for Membership ...
Admission to the Company is as a Freeman. Subsequently, it may be possible to become a Liveryman. Under its grant of Livery, the Company is allowed a maximum of 300 Liverymen. Within the constraints governing all Livery Companies, membership is open to men and women engaged in the practice of Marketing.
Members are drawn from line marketing management - normally at Board level - and the specialist marketing support services of advertising, design, direct marketing, market research, promotion and public relations and sales.
Professional qualifications ...
Applicants for becoming a Freeman are normally expected to have a formal qualification in marketing and/or business studies from a recognised university, business school or professional body. However, individual applications are considered from men and women who hold high office in their industry or profession requiring the practice or management of the marketing disciplines. In addition to professional competence, evidence will be sought of a desire to promote the aims of the Company and participate in its professional, social and charitable activities.
Membership offers a unique opportunity to share in the life and traditions of the City of London, to influence the ways in which Marketing is perceived and practised, and to use the skills of Marketing for the benefit of others.
Applicant interviews ...
Applications are considered by the Membership Committee who will interview the applicant, after which they will make a formal recommendation to the Court.
Liveryman status ...
Once admitted as a Freeman, in order to proceed to the full status of Liveryman, it is necessary for the applicant if not already a Freeman of the City of London, to apply for that honour. The Worshipful Company of Marketors will assist with this. After having obtained the Freedom of the City, the applicant may be admitted to the Livery and thus become a full member of the Company, and be eligible to become a member of the Court from which further progress is possible.
City entitlements ...
Election to the Livery carries with it the right to apply for membership of the City Livery Club and entitles a Liveryman to attend at Common Hall for the election of the Lord Mayor, the Sheriffs and certain other City Officers, a privilege which is the prerogative of the Livery alone.
