| News release from The Worshipful Company of Marketors: 28 Jan. 2008
Industrial media consultant heads up marketing livery company John Fisher, specialist in industrial PR has been installed as Master of the livery company for marketing professionals. He is the first public relations practitioner to take the chair since the Worshipful Company of Marketors was founded in 1975. The theme for his year of office is technology and marketing, launched by the guest speaker at his Installation Dinner (24 Jan 2008, Stationers’ Hall) Dan Cobley, marketing director of Google UK. The thrust of Cobley’s address was that marketers need to think about the possibilities in a world where internet bandwidth and electronic storage are essentially limitless and essentially free. ‘That world’ he said, ‘is here today. Adapt or die.’ John Fisher founded Fisher Marketing in 1988 to provide PR and marketing services for companies in the technical sector. Long term clients have included Turck Banner, Mitsubishi Electric, Emerson, Rockwell Automation and MOOG. John is a Chartered Engineer who began his career with the English Electric Company. Attracted by the commercial rather than the technical side of the business, he built his career via export, sales, marketing and general management with GEC, Brown Boveri (now ABB), the Rank Organisation, Delta Metals and Schneider. He is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Sutton, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology and a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
