News release from the Worshipful Company of MarketorsFeb. 2008 Marketors award new bursaries for research into marketing topics. Five new bursaries for marketing studies have been awarded to research students in different universities by the Marketors – the City livery company for marketing professionals – whose objectives include the encouragement of excellence in marketing. The Worshipful Company of Marketors has restyled their annual award system to provide £1000 bursaries to assist the winning students in the completion of their selected proposed research. Criteria for submissions included benefit to the practice and understanding of marketing, raising its public or corporate image and the relationship of the topic to British based organisations. Commenting on the new structure, Sally Muggeridge, Chairman of the Awards Committee, said ‘The Company’s Charitable & Educational Trust has for many years supported awards for those who are studying for marketing qualifications and these first bursaries were awarded on the basis of the quality of the research proposals submitted. I am pleased to report that the initial output currently being received from the award winners is proving excellent in every respect. The Awards Committee will seek to disseminate the research to as wide an audienceas possible and the individuals concerned will be invited to attend a Company event where their achievements will be fully recognized. ‘I would like to thank those academics at the institutions involved for their support and commitment in ensuring such a successful start to the Company’s annual bursary programme’.
